| Obedience is better than Sacrifice. |
They
shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord; but they shall
not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them. Hosea 5;6
The scripture above is very relevant
to us today as it was in the Old Testament times.
People in those
days sought after the Lord, when anyone sins that person takes an animal to the
priest for sacrifice. This was the practice then but the Lord said though they
bring their sacrifices they still will not find him. He has withdrawn from them.
Today we have
evidence of long hours of prayers by most believers and constant attendance of
programme; people are moving from one church to another in such of miracles but
they forget that moving to other church services takes them to the same God
that they are running from. The pastors that you are visiting are not God; they
can’t force the hand of God. If you cannot find the Lord then look at your life
carefully. There could be a life that the Lord wants you to lead but ignoring
him and praying to him.
Your animal of
sacrifice are the prayers and fasting and sometimes the offering that you pay
to ‘cajole’ the Lord to answer your prayers. But if you are been disobedient
you will not find him. The bible says God prefers you obedience to your
sacrifice. A lot of people think God is a casino machine that they just drop in
some prayer points and you receive results without any commitment. But you have
to know that before he will answer your prayer He will evaluate you first, this
is the gospel truth.
I went to preach at a certain place and while prophesying,
the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask the woman what she wanted to Lord to do for
her. She replied, ‘I want the Lord to help me open a beer bar’. I told her the Lord doesn’t answer such
prayers and if I laid hands and legs on her the Lord will still not answer my
prayer. Similarly if a young lady prays for somebody’s husband, that prayer
will not be answered. In the movie Bruce
Almighty, God took a vacation and gave all his powers to Bruce a
journalist. He did so much with the powers and at some point the prayer requests
from people were too much, about five million, he couldn’t read all so he just
pressed enter on his keyboard without evaluating them. There was pandemonium on
the earth; some people got lots of money
and were drinking at a beer bar and partying, excessive fornication, fire
outbreaks and so on. The prayer requests of people have consequences.
The Lord wants
you to talk to that person or start a bible study in your home or something else.
Maybe he wants you to take care of that child who is suffering. It is time for
you to obey. You can’t ignore his instructions and still pray to him and hope
he will answer. He is a rational being, if you want to have victory with God
consider your ways.
