I asked my friend, ‘why did you get
born-gain?’ I didn’t let her answer but went ahead to provide my own answer to
the question. I said, ‘I got born-again because I had problems and I needed
help’. I didn’t care about God except my problems. It was after I became a
Christian that I was taught to love God. In the first months of your new birth
status, you are very happy and very thankful. You pray a lot until something
happens; you discover that you have to change certain things in your life for
the better. Some situations like financial hardship, marital issues, stubborn
children or a situation at work would make you want a solution.
It is here that I discovered that
there are two messages; one that says that you have to receive strength to bear
difficulties; this message tells you that someday it will be well or wait till
you go to heaven. I call this the
defeatist mentality. The second message
is about being conscious of your place in the Lord; you keep ‘a victory
consciousness’, you live by faith.
MATTHEW 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
If I come to Jesus and I still live
with my yoke and burden as I am not a child of God, then what is the use?
Jesus has paid the entire price for
your suffering. Financial hardship, relationship disharmony, curses, sicknesses
and so on are not supposed to be your portion. However, if you don’t know how
to use your faith to live in this realm you can become a victim. The Christian
life is a beautiful life when you hit on the right messages.
