Not everybody who prophesies is a prophet. A prophet has two or three of the revelation gifts; word of
knowledge, word of wisdom and discernment of spirits in addition to the gift of
prophecy.
Therefore if somebody prophesies alone, he is not a prophet
unless the other revelation gifts are in operation in his ministry.
Surely the Lord does nothing except he reveals his secret to
his servants the prophets; meaning, prophets help bring God’s word come to pass
in your life. They are like doctors; they can diagnose things in the spirit and
enforce to come to pass.
Daniel ‘saw’ through the books that the time for the
deliverance of Israel has passed and he fasted and brought the deliverance.
A prophet can see why you have not been blessed. For
instance because of a marine spirit, a sister would have delayed marriage but
the prophet can see it and cast the demon out. The person will now have the
marriage.
Some pastors will say, ‘you don’t have to go to those
prophets because you have the Holy Spirit inside you’. But I will ask a
question, ‘do you have the revelation gifts operating in your life’. The gift
of prophecy alone is not enough for you.
Even so the prophet has what we call THE SPIRIT OF THE PROPHET
which is a special anointing that makes his declarations powerful and effective
as if it is God who has spoken.
There are periods when people have come to me and the Lord opened my eyes and I saw blessings hanging over their heads yet to be fulfilled. Here, I pray with them and things begin to work for them. Lots of people have their miracles hanging in the spirit and they don't even know. Some witches have hijacked their opportunities and they don't know something like that is been done to them.
Again, the Prophets trade is seeing into the spirit. He can recognize situations easily, curses, attacks and impending dangers which the normal christian even when they dream about would treat it casually because they have no idea how serious it is. The Prophetic is really powerful in this area.
Talk about timing, figuring out when things would be fulfilled. The Lord has blessed them in this area too.
His knowledge on the activities of evil spirits helps a lot in counselling. For instance, ladies who have late marriages often have marines spirits sleeping with them and it also affects their finances and drives men away from them. Few people know this. Don't downplay the power of the prophetic, don't throw away the baby with the bathe water.
There is power in the prophetic and lets exploit it to our
advantage.
